USBI Mission Statement



The United Safe Boating Institute (USBI) is an alliance of non-profit organizations joined together to provide a public service through preparation and distribution of focused boating educational information, funded by grants and/or public, private and corporate contributions

STRATEGIC IMPERATIVES

1. Publish and promote boating safety information to the public;
2. Expand sources of grants or contributions to further our Mission;
3. Establish project impact measurement criteria;
4. Establish a plan to measure the results of the organization’s effectiveness;
5. Increase USBI presence and awareness among other boating organizations.
6. Increase USBI Project marketing efforts;
7. Search aggressively for new Projects;
8. Increase internal awareness and make use of other delivery systems; and
9. Broaden Associate member base.


TACTICAL INITIATIVES


1. Encourage our members to spread the word about USBI and its activities as well as bring new ideas and initiatives from those organizations back to USBI;
2. Establish stronger government alliances using the combined efforts of all of our Directors;
3. Develop a program effectiveness measurement process in which are incorporated creative and critical feedback elements;
4. Encourage public speaking engagements through service clubs (Rotary, Kinsmen, Lions, etc.) and at boating, fishing and hunting conferences;
5. Identify additional national and international organizations dealing with boating safety and establish dialogs with those organizations;
6. Support the strategic objectives of organizations on the use of PDF’s;
7. Re-examine our development, production, marketing and distribution of USBI materials with an emphasis on “marketing” and “distribution”;
8. Work on a re-definition of our role in boating safety - one that is highly accepted by and essential to government and industry; and
9. Develop a process to give our presidents higher visibility, acceptance and presence at boating safety-related conferences..
